Lincoln and the American FoundingJoin us for a conversation with Dr. Lucas Morel, author of Lincoln and the American Founding published by Southern Illinois University Press as part of its Concise Lincoln Library.  The publisher notes, “In this persuasive work of intellectual history, Lucas E. Morel argues that the most important influence on Abraham Lincoln’s political thought and practice was what he learned from the leading figures of and documents from the birth of the United States. In this systematic account of those principles, Morel compellingly demonstrates that to know Lincoln well is to understand thoroughly the founding of America.”

Lucas Morel is the John K. Boardman, Jr. Professor of Politics and Head of the Department of Politics at Washington and Lee University.  He is also a trustee of the Supreme Court Historical Society and serves on the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission, which will plan activities to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America.
