Join us on Tuesday, March 12th, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. for a one-hour webinar that will screen the first two segments (“The Danger of Mob Violence” and “The Problem of Decaying Trust”) of our short documentary series “Fortifying Our Democracy: Lincoln’s Lyceum Address” followed by a discussion with Dr. Kate Masur and Dr. Saladin Ambar, who are featured in the films, led by our CEO Erin Carlson Mast.

This documentary series explores the events that led Abraham Lincoln to deliver his speech to the Young Men’s Lyceum in 1838, “The Perpetuation of Our Political Institutions,” and the lessons we can take from it today. It was developed by the Lincoln Presidential Foundation with generous support from Iron Mountain.

​Dr. Kate Masur is a Professor of History and Board of Visitors Professor at Northwestern University and specializes in the history of race, politics, and law in the United States.  Her recent book, Until Justice Be Done: America’s First Civil Rights Movement, from the Revolution to Reconstruction, was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in History and winner of numerous American History awards.

Dr. Saladin Ambar is a Professor of Political Science and Senior Scholar at Rutgers University’s Eagleton Institute of Politics Center on the American Governor. He is also a Four-time Author and expert commentator on CNN’s series “Race for the White House.”
