Mark B. Pohlad, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of Art History at DePaul University, in Chicago, where he teaches American Art, the History of Photography, and classes on various Chicago topics. In 2017, he published a book on Ohio artist James R. Hopkins: Faces of the Heartland (Ohio State University Press). Prof. Pohlad regularly contributes to The Journal of the Abraham Lincoln Association, Illinois Heritage, and Lincoln Lore on the visual culture of Abraham Lincoln. He has lectured widely on Lincoln in art and in photography, at conferences, for C-SPAN, and in dozens of lectures across Illinois as a “Road Scholar.” His forthcoming book, Chicago Remembers Lincoln: A Cultural History (Southern Illinois Press, 2027) examines the long shadow the Sixteenth President cast on the Windy City.
