Announcing the Winning Films of the “Latest Generation” Film Contest

Midwest Filmmakers (ages 14-22) Recognized for Exceptional Short History Documentaries

The Lincoln Presidential Foundation is proud to announce the winners of our first-ever Latest Generation Film Contest, which provides mentorship and recognition for the next generation of historical documentary filmmakers. The contest invited Midwest filmmakers ages 14 to 22 to create short historical documentaries based on the theme "On This Land."

Hundreds of talented storytellers answered the call, exploring a wide range of historical topics through original documentaries. A panel of filmmakers and educators reviewed the entries, selecting standout works that will debut at a red-carpet premiere in Chicago on June 22.

This program was made possible by generous support from The Better Angels Society through the Amy Margerum Berg Education Fund. Special thanks to documentary filmmaker Ken Burns, who helped launch the contest with an inspiring message to participants.

The premiere will be livestreamed on June 22 at 2 PM CST:
